The LASER HUB is built on a new system for BMX. Two ratchets are used instead of the classic pawls in the hub: one on the driver, and the other pressed against the driver by a huge spring. When the two ratchets come in contact with each other, the wheel starts to rotate. The main feature of this system that is different from the classic pawls is the number of engagement points — 45 as opposed to 4-6 points of the common bushings. Therefore, the force needed to break the hub increases multiple times. Also, both ratchets are replaceable, unlike those that are pressed into the ratchet bodies on standard systems. Another feature of this system is probably the loudest and most unusual sound for a BMX bike yet.

The Laser freecoaster is built on a modified classic KHE system, in which the balls are replaced with a simple and reliable spring. Its far more stable and reliable technology. The freecoaster comes with two hubguards out of the box, it also has aluminum nuts, and plastic adjustment spacer inside to save some weight.
